ms demure laments.
something was blaring- that annoying background alarm
what the hell's happening?
come on, those people on the streets, it's in the wee hours of the morning, can you give us some break?
I unwillingly forced my eyes open, and lying restlessly on the bed, i listened more intensely.
Am I dreaming or is there really an annoying alarm that's waking everyone in the building up.
I pushed myself out of bed and fumbled in the dark for my spectacles which I found after some futile attempts.
I popped my head out of my dorm door and then in a haze, I saw people moving out of their rooms towards the exit stairs.
The exit lights were flashing and it all suddenly clicked.
Something serious must be happening, there is an emergency!
had an injured victim sneaked into the building? was someone killed/rapped in the vicinity and in a frenzy pushed the emergency button located just outside the dormitories?
I was absolutely paranoid.
I then popped back into my room and fumbled for my shoes, while making a "snail-dash" for the exit, in a slow-moving "I just woke up" action.
once i hit the exterior of hansee hall- i immediatly regretted!
Holy cow, the winds were blaring and I was freezing out in the cold.
In a frenzy and at a state of loss, i forgot to wear my coat out! how stupid can i get?
cold cold cold. the only thing that flashed through my mind was only " I am going to freeze to death. it must have been 8 or 9 degrees at timecheck: 3am!"
my body started shivering along with mother nature in an attempt to shake off some coldness.
later, it was reported that apparently the fire alarm went off at level 2 where I was staying.
there claimed to be smoke smelt in the dorm wing i was staying.
a hour or so later, after standing for what seemed like eternity up against the night winds, we were allowed to go back inside the hall.
and so i found up on my way back to my room that the "fire" actually originated from the kitchenette nearest to my room. apparently someone was micro-waving some cookies/bread and forgot all about it! he/she probably fell asleep while waiting for the food to cook.
the charcoal smell was appalling and disturbing.
there goes my sleep.
got up almost late for class
and on my way out, the charcoal smell was still lingering along my corridor.
